We provide both screening and diagnostic breast MRI imaging. This study uses no radiation but instead a magnetic field to image the breast. IV contrast is given for breast MRI which allows the radiologist to detect potential abnormalities. MRI is the most sensitive test to detect invasive breast cancer, but it is not used routinely to screen women. Instead it is recommended for women who are at increased risk of developing breast cancer based on the American Cancer Society Guidelines. This may be due to family history, prior breast biopsy results or genetic factors. The contrast used, is extremely hypoallergenic. The possibility of an allergic reaction is less the 0.2%. Before the injection, a list of symptoms, suspicious of allergic reaction, will be mentioned to you.
Our comprehensive breast MRI screening program is based on personalized risk assessment calculations using the Gail Risk and Tyrer-Cuzick (IBIS) protocols.
The Paredes Institute is pleased to offer free breast MRI’s for patients who are uninsured or who cannot afford the cost. For questions or to learn more, please contact Robynne Rice at rrice@paredesinstitute.com.
